“We would especially like to compliment The Club and it’s Committee for making it possible for John and others to continue as playing members, even with disabilities”
“In this centenary year of Spencer Melksham Bowls Club we would like to thank The Club and all the members, past and present, for over thirty years of great bowling, good company and enormous fun
The generous purchase of the specialised bowls walking frames and equipment plus the formation of the Friday evening friendly league, gives us the opportunity to still play competitively, as well as being able to enjoy regular roll-ups on the green
The social life is also so important and over the last few years the enthusiastic, friendly committee have made this aspect of The Club so enjoyable throughout the whole year
A huge congratulations Spencer Melksham Bowls Club. May you continue for another 100 years”
“Moving to a new area after living overseas for many years can be daunting, but discovering lawn bowls changed everything for me.
After seeing a newspaper advert for an open day at Spencer Melksham I decided to go along to see what it was all about. I had never played bowls before and was surprised to find that the club has coaches and sets of bowls you can use to help get you started.
Not only did I find a new hobby that I love, but I also made many new friends. From the moment I stepped onto the greens, I was greeted with warmth, friendliness and everyone was willing to give help and advice to help improve my knowledge of the game.
Through the club, I got to know Wiltshire and the local area, forged new friendships, and became a part of a supportive community.
Lawn bowls isn’t just about rolling bowls; it’s about finding a place where you belong and where you’re always made to feel welcome”.
